Description
A complex, mellow flavor profile, light to medium body & malty aroma with a smooth, lingering finish.
Notes: Slightly smoky & woody with dried fruit, cocoa, pine, & subtle orchid
Standout Flavors: Roasted cocoa, dried plum & apricot, smoke, & wood
Pairings: Best plain, but can add milk, ginger, citrus peels, jasmine, or vanilla.
Tradition: Also called the "Burgundy of teas," due to it's color, Keemun was first produced in 1875 in Qimen County, Anhui Province, which had only produced green tea up until that time. Yu Ganchen, a former official learned black tea techniques in Fujian Province & brought his knowledge back Qimen County. Keemun quickly gained international fame for its unique, mellow, orchid-like aroma & slight smokiness, becoming a staple in English breakfast blends.
